England’s Test skipper Ben Stokes has expressed his displeasure over any possible changes to the County Championship schedule.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is currently considering a reduction in the volume of County Championship matches. As per the discussions, each county team might have to play between 10 to 12 games a season, as opposed to traditional 14 Championship matches in a year.

Stokes took to Twitter and strongly opposed the idea. In his recent post on the micro-blogging site, he quoted a tweet featuring a survey which found 97 percent of respondents opposing the ECB’s decision. The 2019 World Cup-winner agreed with the opinions of the majority by writing: “Ab so bloody lutely”.

As per a report by the Telegraph, representatives from all 18 first-class counties met with the ECB on Wednesday. The meeting was in regards to the High-Performance Review and the scheduling future of upcoming County Championship seasons. A reduction to England’s premium first-class domestic tournament is likely to be recommended.
