With their knockout hopes dashed, both South Africa Women and Sri Lanka Women will be keen to end their Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 campaign on a winning note when the two teams take on each other in a dead rubber here on Thursday, August 4.

Both Sri Lanka Women and South Africa Women have identical records to display in the ongoing showpiece event. They have lost both of their games and are already out of the running for a top-two finish.

While South Africa Women are ranked third in the Group B points table, Sri Lanka Women are placed at the bottom of the points ranking. As both teams are out of the knockout contention, they will only be playing to salvage whatever is left of their pride.

CWG 2022: Spotlight – Inoka Ranaweera

The left-arm orthodox spinner Inoka Ranaweera has been the best bowler for Sri Lanka in recent times. She has picked three-wicket hauls in both the matches Sri Lanka played in the ongoing tournament.

Ranaweera's team might have been knocked out of the event quite early but her performance with the ball placed her at the top of the wicket-taking chart. She is currently the joint-highest wicket-taker of the Commonwealth Games WT20 2022.

Laura Wolvaardt, the right-handed top-order batter has played a brilliant knock of unbeaten 41 off 33 in the most recent encounter but couldn't help her side win against England Women.

Nilakshi de Silva, the middle-order batter for Sri Lanka has been the consistent run-getter for the Island nation. She has accumulated 61 runs from two matches.

Pitch Report

The pitch at Edgbaston has been aiding the batters big time and the same can be expected for Thursday as well. The spinners will get the wickets in middle overs while seam bowlers will have a significant say with the new ball. Expect a high-scoring affair if South Africa bats first.
