Cricket, like all major sports, operates under the supervision of governing bodies that manage its administration, finances, and overall structure.  At the global level, the sport is governed by the International Cricket Council (ICC), which is responsible for overseeing international competitions and ensuring that the game is played according to established rules and regulations.

The main role of ICC is to maintain and organising tournaments, see player contracts, and generate revenue through broadcasting rights, and sponsorships. While the ICC governs cricket at the global level, each cricket-playing nation has its own governing board that manages the sport within their respective countries. Like in India its BCCI that is responsible for this work and in Australia it's Cricket Australia (CA), and in Pakistan it's Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

BCCI vs PCB: Comparison Of The Pay Base

According to Times of India, the BCCI, currently, receives the largest share of ICC's revenue, that is around 38%. On the other hand, PCB's share is significantly smaller at less than 6%. The PCB is reportedly seeking a larger share of the revenue from the ICC as part of its compensation for agreeing to the hybrid model for the upcoming Champions Trophy.

Considering the fact that there has been significant difference in players' pay scale in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL), the financial factor here is no longer a secret to anyone.

BCCI and PCB Net Worth

In India, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) manage all the work at national-level and stands head and shoulders above its counterparts. According to the report of Times of India, BCCI financial strength is 18, 760 Crore. It is important to mention that, BCCI is the wealthiest cricket board and also one of the richest sports bodies in the world.

The PCB has continued to make significant strides in strengthening its financial position and is ranked as the fourth richest cricket board globally with an estimated financial value of ₹458 crore (according to Times of India). A major contributor to the PCB's financial growth has been the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which has emerged as a significant revenue generator for the board since its inception in 2016.
