UAE To Host Pakistan And Afghanistan As A Prepartion For Asia Cup 2025

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be hosting Pakistan and Afghanistan in a seven-match T20I tri-series starting from Friday, August 29. As confirmed by Emirates Cricket on Friday, August 1; the series will serve as a testing ground for all three sides ahead of the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup in the country.

All seven matches of the tri-series will be hosted by the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah.

Asia Cup 2025 Prelude Tri-Series Will Be Hosted By UAE

UAE and fellow Asian competitors Pakistan and Afghanistan will engage in a rare T20I tri-series between August and September, as confirmed by Emirates Cricket on their official website. Pakistan will face Afghanistan in the tournament opener on Friday, August 29, while hosts UAE will play their first match of the series the following day against the ‘Men in Green’.

After the opening round, comprising of the first six matches, the two teams with the highest number of points will qualify for the final on Sunday, September 7. While confirming the series and its schedule, Emirates Cricket also stated that the three-team competition will serve as an “ideal preparation opportunity” for the three teams just days before the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup. It is worth noting that the opening match of the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup will be played on September 9, i.e., just a couple of days after the conclusion of the tri-series.

The Asia Cup 2025 will also be hosted in its entirety by the UAE, and the eight-team event will itself serve as a dress rehearsal for the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup next year.
