The Board of Control for Cricket in India, on Monday, appointed the observers for the Jammu & Kashmir and Bihar Cricket Association.
Ashish Shelar, Treasurer of BCCI, will serve as an observer for Jammu and Kashmir, while Devajit Saikia, Joint Secretary of BCCI, will don this role for the Bihar Cricket Association.
Jay Shah, Secretary of BCCI, announced the development in a statement on Monday evening.
Here's what Shah stated
"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced the appointments of Mr Ashish Shelar, Honorary Treasurer BCCI as an observer for Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association and Mr. Devajit Saikia, Joint Secretary, BCCI as an observer for Bihar Cricket Association."
Since 2019, the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) have been appointing observers to oversee the functioning and help the association with cricket-related matters.
The observer also must witness the selection committee meetings and prepare the development programmes for the young boys and girls. They also act as a facilitator between the state bodies and BCCI finance observers.
Initially, various boards were not big fans of independent observers; the apex court has made it mandatory to have a proper check on the administrative and financial operations.
