The Australian skipper Aaron Finch was disappointed after the incessant rain forced their clash against England in T20 World Cup to be abandoned on Friday (October 28).

The rain in Melbourne has left many teams unhappy due to the significance of the matches being washed out, resulting in sharing of points. The most affected of them are Afghanistan, who have witnessed their two entire games being washed out.

The net run rates have become a deciding factor for almost all the team staking their claim for the semi-final spots.

With a single win and a loss in two appearances, Australia and England were going to clash in a must-win game, but the rain certainly left the fans disheartened. Earlier in the day, the Afghanistan and Ireland match at the same venue was also abandoned.

In this regard, Finch thinks there were some wet patches in the bowler's run-up and inside the 30-yard circle. He thinks the decision was taken to ensure the players' safety. After waiting for almost two hours, the umpires finally called off the game.

Finch also highlighted the injury concern to Richard Ngarava, who fell near the popping crease while bowling against South Africa on Monday due to wet patches.

Here is what Finch said

"The outfield has taken a drenching over the last couple of weeks. That's the wettest I've ever seen in this stadium. The run-ups were a real issue and around the inner circle, it was very wet. It's more about players' safety,

"We saw one of the Zimbabweans go down the other day. If you are trying to run there, it's going to be a real issue. Everyone was ready to play, there was a great turnout, disappointing not to get on."

The Finch-led team will now clash with Ireland on Monday (October 31), which will be their last hope to reach the semi-finals.
