The ongoing geo-political tension between India and Pakistan is all set to hamper global cricket, raising doubts over several international as well as domestic assignments. While the BCCI and PCB are hopeful of conducting the IPL and PSL as scheduled, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has raised serious safety concerns for its PSL-bound players in Pakistan.
BCB Concerned On Nahid And Rishad's Safety; Pakistan Tour In Danger
The Bangladesh cricket team was supposed to tour Pakistan for a five-match T20I tour against the host nation. However, the situation in Pakistan might worsen, with the country preparing itself for an armed retaliation following India's response through "Operation Sindoor", a strategically conducted air strike.
Thus, in such a scenario, the BCB has its fingers crossed as far as the future of the highly-anticipated T20I series is concerned. As reported by Cricbuzz, BCB president Faruque Ahmed stated that they could rethink about touring Pakistan for the bilateral series, which is scheduled to commence on May 25.
Needless to say, the tour could be cancelled if the situation across the India-Pakistan border worsens over the next few days.
He also raised serious concerns over the safety of two Bangladesh players- Nahid Rana and Rishad Hossain- who are currently featuring in the PSL 2025 in Pakistan.
"We are really working on the current situation (as far as going to Pakistan for the T20I series) and it can wait for another three to four days. Let's see how it progress but at the moment our main concern is regarding the two players (Nahid Rana and Rishad Hossain) who are currently in Pakistan playing in the PSL," Ahmed was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
