In a significant development, reports suggest that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has revoked Mustafizur Rahman’s NOC for the upcoming edition of IPL. On Saturday, the BCCI had asked KKR to relase the left-arm seamer from the squad because of the heightened tensions between India and Bangladesh.

The three-time winners adhered to the request, and it has not gone well with Bangladesh. In the latest events, BCB officials held a meeting, where they decided to revoke Rahman’s NOC, which means that if the situation improves and KKR reverts on their recent move, then also Rahman won’t be availabe to play for IPL 2026.

A recent report from Cricbuzz stated that the reason behind terminating Rahman’s NOC is termed as a security reason.

Bangladesh to skip India travel

In a significant decvelopment,  Bangladesh have decided that they won’t travel to India for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 and want the games to be relocated to Sri Lanka. A BCCI source was heard saying that Bangladesh’s demands are not possible logistically.

“You can't just change games at someone's whims and fancies. It is a logistical nightmare. Think about opposition teams. Their air tickets, hotels are booked,” news agency PTI quoted a BCCI source as saying.

There were talks about BCB writing to ICC, and BCCI about changing the venue, but now the Bangladesh's Adviser to the Ministry of Youth & Sports, Dr Asif Nazrul has confirmed  that Bangladesh won’t be traveling to India via a facebook post.

"Bangladesh will not go to India to play the World Cup. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has taken this decision today. We welcome this decision, which has been taken in the context of the aggressive communal policies of the Indian Cricket Board," he remarked.

Earlier, the BCB decided to send letters to the ICC and the BCCI to know the security status, but later changed their mind in the board meeting that was attended by the majority of the directors. Notably, Pakistan too won’t be going to India for the T20 World Cup, and they will play all their games in Sri Lanka.

Why won’t Bangladesh travel to India?

Bangladesh will play their group stage games in Eden Garden in Kolkata and Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. However, recent developments have raised concerns in Bangladesh over the team’s safety while touring India, amid growing unease linked to the controversy surrounding Mustafizur Rahman.

Tensions escalated in December after the brutal lynching of Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu factory worker in Bangladesh, an incident that sparked strong reactions in India and led to rising dissent on social media. Recently, religious group leaders called for boycott because the Indian citizens are angered by the recent happening in Bangladesh.
