The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the appointment of the current High Performance head coach, David Hemp as the national men’s team batting coach, and former New Zealand all-rounder Andre Adams as their bowling coach.

Hemp, who has been serving as the High Performance head coach since May 2023, previously toured with the national team as the batting coach in New Zealand last year. Bringing a wealth of international experience, both coaches will assist head coach Chandika Hathurusingha in enhancing Bangladesh's performance across all three formats of the game.

With an ECB Level 4 Coaching Certification, Hemp boasts a prolific first-class career as a batter for Glamorgan, Free State, and Warwickshire, amassing over 15,500 runs. He also represented Bermuda in 24 ODIs and has coached the Pakistan Women’s National Team from 2020-2022, as well as the Victoria State Women’s Team and the Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

Joining Bangladesh from his role as the bowling coach for the New Zealand White Ferns, Adams brings a decade of coaching experience, including stints with the New Zealand Black Caps and as Australia's assistant coach during their 2022–23 series against South Africa. He previously served as the head bowling coach of the New South Wales Blues in the Australian Sheffield Shield.

Both coaches have signed a two-year contract and will begin their tenure with the Bangladesh team in the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka, beginning on March 4.

In preparation for the series, the Bangladesh team began training on Monday, with head coach Hathurusingha meeting with available cricketers, including newly-appointed all-format captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Zakir Hasan, Nayeem Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Mominul Haque, among others.

The forthcoming home series against Sri Lanka consists of three T20Is, followed by three ODIs and two Tests. Notably, Bangladesh legends Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal will be absent from the series due to undisclosed reasons. The T20Is will take place in Sylhet on March 4, 6, and 9, followed by the ODIs on March 13, 15, and 18.

Subsequently, the Test series, which is part of the third ICC World Test Championship cycle, will kick off with the first match in Sylhet on March 22-26, followed by the second Test in Chattogram starting on March 30.
