A backstage video featuring Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has added fuel to the ongoing tensions between the two countries. Yadav was seen greeting Naqvi, a move that irked Indian fans.
India-Pakistan relations have been rough for decades. However, the Pahalgam terrorist attack and following border conflict have worsened the situation so much so that the upcoming Asia Cup clash between India and Pakistan is being widely criticised.
Suryakumar Yadav Slammed For Greeting PCB Boss
Meanwhile, just before the official press conference and Asia Cup 2025 trophy shoot in Dubai, cameras captured Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi entering the venue and greeting the captains of all participating teams.
In the clip, released by the PCB’s official handle, Naqvi is seen embracing Pakistan captain Salman Agha before making his way to Suryakumar Yadav and sharing a respectful handshake.
The video quickly went viral on social media, especially after recent political tensions and Naqvi’s controversial comments on India following the Pahalgam terror attack, which he dismissed as “a drama.”
Adding to the buzz, Naqvi and Suryakumar were later seen lining up for official photographs with other skippers, posing with the glittering Asia Cup 2025 trophy.
SKY Earlier Refused Handshake With Salman Agha
India captain Suryakumar Yadav avoided a handshake with Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha during the Asia Cup 2025 pre-tournament press conference.
While Suryakumar warmly greeted other captains like Rashid Khan and even shook hands with PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi, he and Agha kept their distance. The two did not exchange any pleasantries and avoided eye contact on stage.
With calls to boycott Pakistan, the atmosphere at the press event remained tense, and both captains appeared cautious in their conduct.
