Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma’s divorce has been in the news for months. The buzz started when the two unfollowed each other on social media, and later they confirmed their separation, earlier this year. While Chahal spoke here and there about his personal life, Dhanashree mostly stayed quiet in public.
Now, Dhanashree, who is currently part of the reality show Rise and Fall, has opened up about her divorce in a podcast. This comes after Chahal shared his side of the story in another podcast.
Dhanashree Reacts To Chahal's Controversial ‘Sugar Daddy’ T-Shirt
Dhanashree explained that she had chosen silence earlier because she wanted to respect the institution of marriage. She said,
"When you are in marriage, then you are responsible ki dusre person ka bhi respect aapke haath mein hota hai. Chah kar main bhi disrespect kar sakti thi. (When you are in marriage, then you are responsible that the respect of the other person is also in your hands. I could have also disrespected if I wanted to). You think I don't have things to say as a woman, but he was my husband. I respected even when I was married and I have to respect it now that I was married to him."
For context, during their final divorce hearing, Chahal showed up wearing a T-shirt that read “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy.” This sparked a lot of trolling online.
Responding to it, Dhanashree made a witty remark:
"I think it's time people should know that I do not like sugar, I have been off sugar. People have tagged me with a lot of names here and there. Logon ko kuch pata hi nahi hai mere baare mein."
For unversed, Dhanashree and Chahal had married in December 2020 after meeting during the COVID lockdown. By mid-2022, their relationship hit a rough patch, and they started living separately. In February 2025, they filed for divorce by mutual consent, which was finalized in March.
