Rohit Sharma, the Indian team captain, found himself on the receiving end after he was dismissed for 1 run off 2 balls in the 3rd ODI against England. Fans on social media slammed him and called his previous hundred a ‘fluke’ inning.
With a 2-0 lead, India took on England in the 3rd ODI of the 3-game series at Narendra Modi Stadium. Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to field first for the first time in the season.
Meanwhile, Indian fans seemed confident as the opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill walked out to bat. Rohit was coming off a sensational century in the previous ODI with Gill also accumulating 163 runs in two games.

However, Rohit Sharma’s inning lasted only 2 balls as he was dismissed on just 1 run by Mark Wood. The bowler fired a quick 142 kph delivery and it straightened after hitting the deck. Rohit was trapped in his crease and had no choice but to play at it, only to nick it behind.
Wicket-keeper Philip Salt dived to his right and took a sharp catch, sending Rohit back and giving England the perfect start.
Meanwhile, fans on social media blasted Rohit Sharma for his flop show. Many called his previous game’s century a ‘fluke’ inning. A few fans also showed concern about the skipper’s form given that the Champions Trophy is around the corner.
That being said, after Rohit’s dismissal, Virat Kohli, who is also struggling to score runs, walked out to bat. He is off to a good start and is knitting a crucial partnership with Shubman Gill.
