India’s T20I skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, is on the road to recovery after successfully undergoing surgery for a sports hernia in Munich, Germany. The star batter shared a video on social media on June 28. The clip showed SKY taking a walk in a park with the caption: 'Baby Steps.'

This post follows an earlier update where Suryakumar shared a photo of himself post-surgery from his hospital bed, writing: "Underwent surgery for a sports hernia in the lower right abdomen. Grateful to share that after a smooth surgery, I'm already on the road to recovery. Can't wait to be back."

It is important to mention that this is the third surgery in 3 years for the 33-year-old cricketer. In 2023, he underwent ankle surgery, followed by a sports hernia procedure in 2024, and now again in 2025 for a similar abdominal issue. After participating in the recently concluded 2025 IPL season, Suryakumar travelled to the UK for consultations before undergoing the operation in Germany.

IPL 2025 Heroics Before Surgery

Suryakumar Yadav was in scintillating form in IPL 2025. He smashed 717 runs, the most runs scored by MI Indians batter in a single season. His consistency and aggressive batting guided MI to the playoffs. He also briefly featured in the T20 Mumbai League, where he led Triumph Knights Mumbai North East.

When Will SKY Play Next For India?

While Suryakumar is currently recovering in Germany, India is engaged in a five-match Test series in England, set to conclude on August 4. The Men in Blue will then travel to Bangladesh for a white-ball series featuring three ODIs and three T20Is.

According to reports, Suryakumar is expected to make his return during the T20I leg of the Bangladesh tour, starting August 26 in Chattogram, where he is stated to resume his captaincy duties.
