Babar Azam is considering taking legal action over the shocking leak of his private WhatsApp messages in the media, stated a report in the Pakistan-based 'Geo' channel.

The outgoing Pakistan skipper, who resigned from his captaincy post across formats following the team's disappointing pre-semifinal exit at the ICC World Cup 2023 in India, could take PCB officials and ARY News to court battle for leaking his private information.

Before relinquishing his leadership post, Babar is understood to have met existing PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf in the cricket board's headquarters as the regime announced a series of changes in the set-up, with experienced opener Shan Masood made new Test skipper and rising speedster Shaheen Afridi appointed fresh T20I captain.

It was the accusations of a rift between Babar and Ashraf amidst Pakistan's lacklustre World Cup run that had controversially led to the revealing of his WhatsApp messages with the PCB head and his regime.

Babar Considers Legal Action After WhatsApp Messages Row

The incident occurred on Pakistan-based ARY News after PCB CEO Arslan Naseer live revealed personal messages sent over WhatsApp by the Pakistan captain to reaffirm that he forms a cordial relationship with Ashraf and the rest of the board.

The leaking of messages was a response to accusations of rift raised on a cricket television debate by former wicketkeeper-batter Rashid Latif, who also claimed that Ashraf is refusing to pick up Babar's calls and messages for two straight days even as the team continued to suffer the downfall in India.

A breach of personal confidentiality seems to have not gone down well with Babar, who is now free of World Cup duties and is reportedly considering legal action against all parties involved. Notably, the breach had heightened the pressure and scrutiny faced by the modern-day batting giant whilst Pakistan underwent a fatal four-match losing streak.

Waseem Badami, who is the host of the ARY News programme, later issued a clarification video on social media to suggest that the channel only displayed the leaked messages after Ashraf insisted they must be shown for him to resurrect his image in the entire episode.
