Pakistan batter Babar Azam roared back into form by shaping a match-winning century for Stallions in the seventh match of the Champions One-Day Cup 2024 season. The modern-day batting legend smeared 104 unbeaten runs from 100 deliveries to charge-up Stallions’ total to a competitive 271-7 upfront.

After Stallions secured a 174-run win over Saud Shakeel’s Dolphins, Babar Azam dedicated his ‘Player of the Match’ award to the Faisalabad crowd for demonstrating their unwavering support towards him.

Babar Azam thanks crowd after drought-ending ton

Desperate for runs in competitive cricket, Babar Azam notched up 104 of them in 100 deliveries with seven boundaries and three sixes against the Dolphins attack at the Iqbal Stadium on September 19. His innings, coupled with the collective bowling brilliance of Jahandad Khan, Haris Rauf and Mehran Mumtaz helped Stallions pulverize Dolphins by 174 runs.

Babar was fittingly declared the ‘Player of the Match’ for his sublime century, which also marked the 30th of his List A career as he regained some rhythm after a lacklustre year with the bat. Interestingly, the legendary Pakistani batter dedicated his award to the passionate crowd of Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium and he thanked them for demonstrating their unwavering support towards him in his times of crisis.

When did Babar last scored an international century?

While Babar Azam’s century helped the Stallions mow down the Dolphins in Champions One-Day Cup 2024, the 29-year-old is yet to get to a triple-figure mark for Pakistan in over a year. The last time Babar notched up an international century was back in August last year when he belted 151 against Nepal at the 2023 Asia Cup.

As of now, Babar Azam will soon be seen gracing the national colors for Pakistan for their upcoming home Test series against England.
