Azhar Ali All Set To Get Influential Position In PCB

Pakistan’s former skipper, Azhar Ali, is on course to take an influential position in Pakistan Cricket Board. As per a report by Geo News, Azhar is likely to become an integral part of the selection committee or high-performance center of the cricketing body.

The PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed his desire to rope in Azhar Ali for the influential position in the board. Azhar Ali is among the best that Pakistan has produced in Test cricket history.

With over 7000 Test runs to his name, he holds a vast amount of experience playing for Pakistan cricket. The batter announced retirement from Test cricket in 2022 after playing his last series against England.

The 37-year-old made his first steps in international cricket in England at Lord’s Cricket Ground in a clash against Australia in 2010. He went on to score his maiden Test half-century in only his second match.

Azhar Ali ended up playing 97 Tests for Pakistan, scoring 7142 runs at an average of 42.46. He has 35 half-centuries and 19 centuries to his name in the longest format. Ali wrote his name in the history books after becoming the first ever Pakistan batter to score a triple century in a day-night Test match against West Indies in Dubai in 2016.

He scored an unbeaten knock of 302 runs, which also remained his highest score in Test cricket history. He also got the opportunity to lead Pakistan’s Test team in nine Tests between 2016 and 2020.


Rehan-ul-Haq to hold the position of team manager

Meanwhile, former team manager, Rehan-ul-Haq, is all set to, once again, don the role of Pakistan team’s manager. 

"Rehan-ul-Haq will soon take over his duties in the Pakistan team," claimed the sources.

He was appointed as the manager under Najam Sethi’s reign and will continue to take on the role.
