Indian T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav has a wonderful record in T20Is; however, not when it comes to Pakistan. SKY, as he is popularly known, has not been able to live up to expectations against India's arch-nemesis.

SKY Under Pressure To Deliver Against Pakistan

Playing and representing India in international cricket is an honour, and playing against Pakistan is an even greater prestige, as most players consider the Indo-Pak rivalry at the pinnacle. Many players dream of breaking remarkable records in their career; however, playing against Pakistan, they dream even bigger.

India's T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, who has led from the front in the past year since the retirement of Rohit Sharma from the format, has been incredible. Surya, the way he has consistently managed to score runs in the 20-over format while captaining his team well with a young side, has been exemplary.

SKY, whose numbers are excellent, especially in T20I cricket, having scored 2,598 runs in 83 matches at an average of 38.20 while striking at 167.07, with 21 half-centuries and four centuries, has been outstanding since his debut in 2021.

Nevertheless, when it comes to Pakistan, Surya's numbers drop down drastically, as he has not managed to live up to expectations against India's arch-rivals.

His average falls to just 12.80, while his strike rate plummets to 118.51. With the highest score of just 18, Surya has only been able to manage 64 runs in five innings against the Pakistan side.

These numbers and statistics prove that even the best batters struggle against the Pakistan side, as playing against them is no easy task, considering they have a plethora of talent in their lineup.

Poor Performances In the Past Don't Help The Cause

Previously, Surya has faced the Pakistan side on five occasions, out of which three were in World Cups, while the remaining two were in Asia Cups. Out of those five, three were in Dubai, while the remaining two were in Melbourne and New York, respectively.

In tense games against Pakistan, SKY has not been able to be at his best, as he often succumbs to the pressure. Considering the statistics mentioned above, he has a highest score of just 18, while his best strike rate of 150 was achieved in the 2022 T20 World Cup game in Melbourne, where he managed only 15 off 10 deliveries.

Moreover, examining the pattern of dismissals, out of those five, he has been caught four times, while he was bowled out once. Interestingly enough, on both previous occasions in the World Cups, Haris Rauf has had the upper hand.

Therefore, after considering all the stats, it can be clearly concluded that Surya has to work on his game against Pakistan, as he will get a chance to face them in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 on September 14th in Dubai, which is set to begin on September 9 with the Hong Kong-Afghanistan game, while India will open their account against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the 10th of September.
