Tim Southee, the former New Zealand pacer and England's bowling coach, is all set to leave Ben Stokes and company after the first Ashes Test. The development has been reported by The Telegraph, and there are chances that Andrew Flintoff might replace him.

The New Zealand pacer has been part of England's team management since May 2015. However, he is associated with Sharjah Warriorz as a player in the International League T20 and will have to leave Ashes 2025 for the franchise tournament.

The Ashes is an important series for England and is likely to be another tough assignment for Ben Stokes' boys after the five-match series against India. Thus, Andrew Flintoff's addition is likely to help England both on the cricket skills part and the mental side of things. In recent times, Flintoff has worked with England Lions as a coach and will be in Australia for the shadow tour, which makes him a perfect match for the role.

Flintoff's Ashes Experience Likely To Help England

He is also currently coaching Northern Superchargers in The Hundred 2025 and has been in contention to join the England team management in a coaching role. Unlike Tim Southee, Andrew Flintoff is aware of the pressure of the Ashes and was the hero of their famous win in 2005.

England could also rope in James Anderson, who was the bowling coach before Tim Southee. The pressure, though, would be on the duo of Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes to deliver after some indifferent performances in recent times.

The Ashes 2025-26 will begin in the Western Australian city of Perth from November 21, while the final Test is scheduled to start on January 4 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
