A shocking development has come from the Women's World Cup camp, where two Australian women cricketers were molested outside their hotel in Indore. Notably, the defending champions are staying in the Radisson Blu Hotel ahead of their clash against South Africa on Saturday, October 25.

According to Dainik Jagran, the incident occurred on Thursday morning, when two Aussie cricketers, whose names have not been revealed, walked towards a nearby cafe. As soon as they stepped on the road, a guy named Aqeel started following them and molested the international cricketers.

The report mentioned that the Indore resident, who was on the bike, started following the cricketers, made lewd gestures and allegedly tried to grab one of them. The incident left the visitors scared and quickly alerted their Team Security Manager, Danny Simmons, through a ‘Live Location’ distress signal at 11:08 a.m., followed by a WhatsApp message.

Indore police take swift action against the accused

"Hey SOS, just sending you my live location... there’s a guy following us trying to grab us," read the text of one of the cricketers.

The manager too acted quickly and informed the local police, who also rushed to the scene at the earliest and arrested the accused. The Australian team then filed an FIR against the 30-year-old.

"Our players were walking a short distance to a nearby café. Around 11 a.m., they sent me an SOS alert that a man was following them and trying to grab them. Both players were escorted back to their hotel and did not sustain any physical injuries," read the Australia team's complaint to police.

BCCI, ICC issue clarification

The Australia team also informed the BCCI and ICC. The International Cricket Council asked the apex cricket board of India about the lapse in security, to which the Mithun Manas-governed board remarked that the security was in place but two players to go to a nearby place on their own without any escort.
