Australian Legend Thrashes Pakistan For Christmas Presents With A Ganguly-Waugh Anology

A heartening gesture by the visiting Pakistan team to present the Australians with Christmas gifts leading into the Boxing Day Test was given a competitive twist by former cricketer Kerry O'Keefe, who expressed his shock and disbelief at the accused lack of feistiness about the tourists.

In a wonderful clip revealed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Christmas Eve, Pakistan were seen treating the Pat Cummins-led side with gifts for them and their families before the two teams locked horns for the next Test of the three-match series at MCG.

While the gesture was mainly humanitarian beyond the on-field action, O'Keefe wasn't overly pleased by it and laid bare his displeasure over Pakistan's friendliness with Aussies on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test on Tuesday (December 26).

O'Keefe Feels Miffed With Pakistan's Gesture

Speaking to Fox Sports ahead of the first Test, O'Keefe said he finds Pakistan lacking a competitive edge and fire to do something special in Australia and gave an Indian reference on the matter.

The commentator asked would former India skipper Sourav Ganguly, known for his passion and aggression, have given his Australian counterpart Steve Waugh Christmas presents before a Test match?

"This Test series is being played in the best of spirits? You're not going to beat Australia in the best of spirits. Christmas Presents yesterday. Would Sourav Ganguly have arrived with Christmas presents to Steve Waugh? No!" O'Keefe said.

"You've got to play fiesty against the Aussies. You got to have some spite. This is too pleasant. And then opening the Boxing Day with a half-volley," he added.

Notably, Pakistan embrace the MCG Test with the weight of a horrific defeat in Perth on their shoulders. The Asian giants also have an extremely poor track record in Australia, having lost their previous 15 consecutive Tests Down Under.
