The much-awaited T20 World Cup is just around the corner and after a gruesome IPL, the focus has now shifted to the marquee event.

Before the main tournament gets underway, there are warm-up matches, and Australia, the champions of the 2021 T20 World Cup have found themselves in a tricky position with Mitchell Marsh confirming that they will have only 8 players to field in their warm-up game against Namibia.

Australia are scheduled to play Namibia on 29th of May, but many of their players were involved in the IPL which concluded on 26th of May, so the team management will give some much-needed rest to their players before they shift their focus solely on winning the trophy.

'We're going to be undermanned, but it is a practice game. The guys who need to play will play as much as they can and we'll figure it out from there. It's important to be flexible. Guys who have been at the IPL have been playing a lot of cricket. We prioritised giving them a couple of days at home to see their families, refresh, and play the long game for this tournament. We've also got guys that have played in the final tonight. We will get our 15 (all together) eventually, but really important that we give them a break, even if it's just a couple of days at home, that's really important," Mitchell Marsh said.

So, with only eight players available, Aussies would have to use three members from their support staff to make their playing XI on 29th of May at Queen's Park Oval. Marsh himself is in doubt for the game, but if he does play, then Australia will have nine players and will have to find two other people in that case.

Australia will be led by Mitchell Marsh and will play their first game of the World Cup on 6th of June against Oman at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
