Bangladesh got off to a magnificent start to their innings in the ongoing Asia Cup group-stage game against Afghanistan, as the dynamic opening duo of Mohammad Naim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz frustrated the Afghans through scintillating stroke play. However, Afghanistan made a remarkable comeback towards the end of the powerplay, with Mujeeb Ur Rahman cleaned up Naim with an absolute peach.

The incident occurred in the tenth over when Bangladesh had already off to a flying start. Bowling the final over of the powerplay, Mujeeb conceded a boundary to Mehidy Hasan before scalping Naim's prized breakthrough. The experienced spinner bowled a well-disguised googly from around the stumps, as the ball turned slightly to beat Naim's defence, shattering his off stump in this process.

Naim's wicket was much-needed for Afghanistan, as he was looking set for a big score. The stylish left-handed batter struck five glorious boundaries for his 32-ball 28, providing his side with a breezy start to their innings.

After his departure, Afghanistan quickly got rid of Towhid Hridoy, who was dismissed by Gulbadin Naib for a two-ball duck. Thus, Afghanistan made a sensational comeback in the game after conceding too many runs in the first nine overs. As of writing, Bangladesh are 68 for two, with Najmul Hossain Shanto and Miraz batting on 4* and 23*, respectively.
