The much-awaited schedule for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 could soon be out, as Indian Premier League (IPL) Arun Dhumal confirmed that the six-nation event would be played in a hybrid model and that the itinerary has been finalised.

Both Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Jay Shah met on the sidelines of the ongoing ICC Chief Executive Meet (CEC) in Durban.

Ashraf had earlier mentioned that PCB would assert the tournament be played in Pakistan in its entirety but now has accepted the proposed model. As quoted by Hindustan Times, Dhumal also confirmed that Shah, who is also BCCI secretary, won't visit India, and neither will Team India for the showpiece event.

Here's what Dhumal said

"Our secretary met PCB head Zaka Ashraf and the Asia Cup schedule was finalized and it is on course as it was discussed earlier. There will be four games of league stage in Pakistan, followed by nine games in Sri Lanka including both India versus Pakistan game and in case a third game if both teams play final."

"There was no such discussion held. Neither India is traveling to Pakistan nor our secretary will be traveling contrary to reports that have surfaced. Only the schedule was finalized."

As many as four matches will be held in Pakistan, while nine matches will take place in Sri Lanka, including the marquee Indo-Pak clash. The six-nation competition is scheduled between August 31 and September 17.
