National High-Performance Centre (NHPC) coach Umer Rashid has come on board to join Pakistan's contingent for the Asia Cup 2022

As reported by Cricket Pakistan, Rashid has been added to the side's support group for the upcoming multinational event as an assistant to the fast-bowling coach, Shaun Tait.

The 59-year-old has been brought in on the recommendation of former Pakistan cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq, who is also the current head coach of the team.

"NHPC Bowling Coach Umer Rashid added to Pakistan men’s side coaching staff as assistant to the fast bowling coach for the Asia Cup. The 59-year-old has been included on the recommendation of head coach Saqlain Mushtaq," the tweet from Cricket Pakistan added.

Rashid's resume

A prominent bowling coach at the NHPC, Rashid, has been involved in the development of several pacers throughout his career. Mohammad Hasnain, who was banned from competitive cricket due to an illegal bowling action, returned back to action recently after improving under Rashid's supervision.

The speedster also made it to the Pakistan's squad for the nearing Asia Cup, replacing Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is recovering from a knee injury.

Rashid's first test will come in the form of India as Pakistan are scheduled to lock horns with their arch-rivals in the high-voltage clash on August 28 at Dubai.
