Team India completed a 3-0 demolition job over Ireland with a huge win in the third ODI at Rajkot’s Saurashtra Cricket Stadium. The ‘Women in Blue’ scaled some unique and significant milestones along the way, with interim captain Smriti Mandhana leading the patch by whacking 135 regal runs from just 80 deliveries.
Celebrating India’s dominant day out over Ireland, here we take a look at all the records Team India broke during their 304-run victory.
Mandhana topples Harmanpreet Kaur for fastest 100
Smriti Mandhana scored 135 runs from just 80 balls with 12 boundaries and seven sixes against Ireland. Remarkably, the blistering Indian opener reached her 100th run from just 70 balls to record India’s fastest ever individual century in women’s ODIs. Regular skipper Harmanpreet Kaur held the previous record by scoring an 87-ball century against South Africa back in mid-2024.
Pratika Rawal surpasses Charlotte Edwards in ODIs
Pratika Rawal, who made her international debut less than a month ago at Vadodara, has now made the highest number of runs by any player after the first six innings in women’s ODIs. The 154 she mounted over Ireland extended her ODI tally to 444 runs from six innings at a splendid average of 74. She soared past former English player Charlotte Edwards, who minted 434 runs after her first six ODI innings.
India’s third highest opening partnership
Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal forged 233 runs for the opening wicket from 26.4 overs in the match. Their monumental top-order effort now marks India’s third highest opening partnership in women’s ODIs behind Deepti Sharma-Punam Raut’s 320 from May 2017 and Reshma Gandhi-Mithali Raj’s 258* from June 1999 (both against Ireland).
India’s highest ODI total
Courtesy of big Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal centuries, the Indian team accrued 435-5 from 50 overs to haul their highest-ever total in women’s ODIs, going past their previous record of 370-5 set at the same Rajkot venue a couple of days ago. Moreover, the total also marks India’s highest-ever ODI score (men or women), going past the 418-5 set by a Virender Sehwag-led Indian men’s team back in December 2011.
India’s biggest win in women’s ODIs
After amassing 435-5 from 50 overs, the Indian bowlers enveloped Ireland for just 131 as the hosts walked away with a 304-run victory to seal the series 3-0. The outcome now marks India’s highest-ever win margin in women’s ODIs, going past India’s 249-run victory (also over Ireland), back in May 2017.
