Ajinkya Rahane Smashes Fastest Fifty of IPL 2023

Ajinkya Rahane is known for his classy batting but has been laid low by inconsistent form for the last few years. That meant that he lost his place not only in the Indian team but also could not find a regular place in any IPL team.

However, the man turned back the clock quite classily in his first game in CSK's Yellow as he smashed the fastest fifty in the IPL 2023 - Just 19 balls! The fact that it came against MI at their den, Wankhede makes it even special. 

The Wankhede Stadium is Rahane’s original home ground as he captains Mumbai in domestic cricket and started his cricketing journey at this very ground. He came into bat at number 3 with no run on the board but found his timing almost immediately and played some breathtaking shots without taking any risks whatsoever.

He smashed Arshad Khan for 23 runs in the fourth over and there was no looking back after that. He got to his fifty in just 19 balls and did not stop after reaching his fifty as he went onto score 61 off just 27 balls which included 7 fours and three classy sixes. Chawla got rid of him in the 8th over but with just 157 on the board, things look difficult for MI.

At the time of writing, CSK are 85-2 at the end of 9 overs and look well on course to register their second win of the season.
