Day 1 of the Lord's Test between India and England has already been done and dusted and the latter has been in firm control so far. The hosts posted 251/4 at the day's end amidst all the banters and nitpicking amongst each other.

However, what became one of the most highlighted and hilarious banter of the day was between Ravindra Jadeja and Joe Root where Sir Jadeja, known for his fun and flamboyant character on the field tempted Joe Root for a double on the field to complete his century just ahead of the stumps. Let's delve deeper into what happened on the field.

Jadeja Hilariously Taunts Joe Root For A Double

In the 83rd over, Joe Root was sitting pretty on 98*, just two runs away from his century. Akash Deep bowled one short and wide, and Root gently guided it to a deep backward point, who’s out there? None other than Ravindra Jadeja, the human bullet train and probably the fittest Indian fielder.

As soon as the ball went to him, Ben Stokes took a single and let out a loud “NOOO!” from the other end for good reason! Jadeja was standing with the ball and making a 'Come On' gesture with his hand luring Root to go for the double and complete his century. Root, however, aware of Jadeja's stealth, just smiled, shook his head, and happily stayed put at the non-striker’s end. No way he was risking his ton with Jaddu lurking out there like a hungry lion.

There it was, a good old banter, top-class awareness, and a little bit of mischief all rolled into one moment. Test cricket at its cheekiest best as the play closed with Akash Deep's 83rd over.

India Will Try To Hole In Early On Day 2

Speaking of the day, Indian bowlers struggled to get purchases at Lord's. Four wickets were taken, however, surprisingly two of them were taken by Nitish Reddy as Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja managed to scalp one wicket each.

With Day 2 promising more thrill, it will be interesting to see how the Men in Blue plan their attack with the ball to dismantle England ahead of Stumps.
