Rahul Dravid is set to leave the head coach position of the Indian cricket team following the T20 World Cup in June. The current contract of Dravid ended after the 2023 ODI World Cup, but  Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had extended the contract for one more year which ends on June 30th of 2024.

The BCCI has advertised the position, seeking a new coach to lead the team until 2027. During this period, India will compete in major tournaments such as the 2025 Champions Trophy and the 2027 ODI World Cup.

There are rumors circulating that India might be considering a foreign coach again for the cricket team. Several names have been linked to the position, including Stephen Fleming, who is currently the coach of Chennai Super Kings and has led them to five IPL titles.

However, nothing has been confirmed yet. India last won the World Cup in 2011 under the coaching of Gary Kirsten, who is now associated with the Pakistan cricket team and also manages the Gujarat Titans in the IPL.

Laxman says NO- Reports!

Another candidate the BCCI considered for the head coach position was VVS Laxman, who currently heads the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Laxman had previously served as the interim manager of the Indian team when Rahul Dravid took a short sabbatical. However, latest reports indicate that Laxman has also declined the offer from the BCCI.

Several names are now being considered for the head coach position of the Indian cricket team, including Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting and Lucknow Super Giants coach Justin Langer

However, none of these rumors have been confirmed. The only confirmed developments are Rahul Dravid's imminent departure after the T20 World Cup in June and VVS Laxman's decision not to replace him.
