Pakistan cricketer Iftikhar Ahmed recently condemned a fake viral quote incorrectly associated with him by an obscure X [Formerly Twitter] account.

The quote falsely attributed to him, in which he allegedly compared playing against India to playing with 'street children', spread like wildfire across social media platforms, igniting widespread anger and intense debates among cricket fans.

Ahmed took to his X account to condemn it and called out the user for spreading false information and spreading hate. He also appealed to Elon Musk, the owner of the platform, to take action against the account responsible for the deceptive post.

Meanwhile, in a welcome development, X recently suspended the account, spreading false quotes about Iftikhar Ahmed. Saif Ahmed, the social media manager of Bangladesh Cricket, provided an update on the matter.

He took to X and wrote:

"Did anyone notice that the person named Nawaz who spread a fake quote about Iftikhar Ahmed last month & then arrogantly claimed that Ifti bhai got selected in the national team because of his positive tweets in the past his account has really been ‘Suspended’ by X."

"Ifti bhai faced a lot of abuse from India due to that fake quote. Finally justice prevailed and this is a lesson for all. Well done to @X. What a job done!!"

This is not the first time a cricketer has called out fake accounts on social media for spreading lies and slapping fake quotes on their names. Earlier, England's captain, Nasser Hussain, exposed an account on X for spreading fake quotes in his name, especially during India versus Pakistan matches.

As far as Iftikhar Ahmed is concerned, he has kicked off his Asia Cup 2023 journey on a high note with an outstanding unbeaten century against Nepal in their opening match in Multan. He aims to maintain this exceptional form as the tournament progresses.
