Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are undoubtedly the pillars of Indian cricket. Together, the duo achieved unimaginable glory for their side. However, the batting stalwarts hit fathers time after entering into their late 30s this year.

The international cricket's rigorous schedule is further hampering the stars' workload as they struggle to juggle between all three formats of the game.

Having said that, the next T20 World Cup is just months away, and ahead of the tournament, speculation around Kohli and Sharma's future in the shorter format has been gaining intense momentum.

Some say Sharma urged BCCI to not consider him for the T20 captaincy role, whereas Kohli is on an indefinite break from white ball cricket

Aakash Chopra Questions Rohit-Virat's Absence From T20s

While nothing has been confirmed from either of the parties involved, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra highlighted a crucial fact regarding the duo's involvement in the shorter format.

Through a tweet on the X platform, Chopra observed that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have not played a single T20 game together since the last World Cup concluded in 2022 in Australia.

The Indian side were ousted in the semi-finals by England, and that marked the last T20 outing of Rohit and Virat. Since then, the duo has been actively missing T20 games, and that's a mystery nobody even tried to unravel, says Aakash Chopra.

Having said that, it's not only Virat or Rohit who has been missing from the shorter format. In fact, the entire senior core has been sidelined due to the influx of youth.

Since the conclusion of the previous T20 World Cup, the Hardik Pandya-led B team has been engaging in the T20s, thus allowing the seniors to rejuvenate for the much larger stints in ODI and tests.

It remains to be seen if Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will commit to the upcoming T20 World Cup or, in fact, are even ready to continue offering services in the shorter format.
