In 2024, a significant number of Indian cricket veterans retired, including prominent players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik, either from specific formats of the game or from the sport altogether.

On Thursday, former Indian pacer Siddarth Kaul announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. In his announcement, Kaul shared a heartfelt message for his followers on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

Kaul Pens Retirement Message

In his retirement message, Kaul expressed his love for the game and reflected on the emotions he felt when his dream of representing the nation came true in 2018.

"When I was a child playing cricket in the fields in Punjab, I had one dream. A dream to represent my country. In 2018, by Gods grace, I received my India Cap Number 75 in the T20i team and Cap Number 221 in the ODI team. The time has now come to call time on my career in India and announce my retirement," wrote Kaul in the post.

Kaul then thanked his family members, friends and followers in the post for standing by his side as he recalled his U-19 days.

"Words cannot express my gratitude for the love and support I have received through all the highs and lows of my career. I want to thank God for the path that has been made for me; the fans for the endless support; my parents and family for the sacrifices and confidence you have given me, especially during the injuries and lows; my teammates over the years for the dressing room memories and friendships; the BCCI for fulfilling a young child’s dream to represent India and win the 2008 Under-19 World Cup and receive my T20i and ODI caps in 2018!" shared Kaul.

Siddarth Kaul's emotional message concluded by thanking the IPL franchises he played for. The 34-year-old pacer debuted with Punjab Kings back in 2007 and then moved to KKR, DC and became a sensation while playing for SRH.

"Kolkata Knight Riders , Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL franchises for giving me memories of a lifetime; and last but not least, the @pcacricketassociation for giving me an opportunity to make my First Class debut in 2007 and supporting me throughout my career. Without all your support I would not be the person I am today. I don’t know what the future holds but I look back on this chapter with only fond memories and now on to the next chapter. Once again, thank you," Kaul concluded.

Siddarth Kaul's Career

The veteran pacer, who was part of the U-19 World Cup team that won in 2008, was a sensational bowler during that time and gained recognition in domestic cricket. However, his IPL career has not been particularly illustrious. Over his IPL career, Kaul has played a total of 54 matches, conceding 1,696 runs and taking 58 wickets, with an economy rate of 8.59.

In contrast, Kaul's Test career stands out. He has taken 297 wickets in 88 matches at an economy rate of 3.10. Additionally, in his 111 List A games, he has claimed 199 wickets with an economy rate of 5.27.
