India and England are two of the most exciting teams in world cricket and whatever is the format, the battle between the two teams is always worth watching. The T20I series is now done and dusted, and though India won the series by 4-1 margin, the series produced some quality cricket and we can expect even better cricket in the three-match ODI series.

A lot of senior players will be back for India which includes the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli along with KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. It is the same team that will play in the Champions Trophy 2025 apart from Harshit Rana who will be replaced by Jasprit Bumrah in the marquee tournament.

However, it means that some of the star performers of the T20I series recently held between the two sides, would not be available in the ODI series. Therefore, let's see who are the three top-performers from T20I series who will be absent from the longer format one.

3. Shivam Dube

The all-rounder was not part of the T20I series initially, but made his way into the side as a replacement of Nitish Reddy. He played the final two T20Is and made massive impact in both the games. In the fourth T20I in Pune, he walked out to bat with India in all sorts of trouble at 57-4, and displayed great temperament and skills under pressure to take India to a strong total with 53 off 34 balls.

In the final T20I, he displayed the other side of his game too, smashing 30 off just 13 balls when India needed him to continue the good momentum. He also picked two wickets with the ball, showing his all-round credentials and has taken a big step in cementing his place in T20Is. He was part of the ODI squad in the Sri Lanka series, but has not been selected now, but if someone gets injured he has done enough to make a strong case for ODI comeback too.

2. Abhishek Sharma

The charismatic opener stole the show in the final T20I with a magnificent 135 off 54 balls. He also smashed 79 in the series opener, and overall has announced his arrival on the big stage in style. He is a handy bowler too along with his batting skills and looks set to serve India for a long time.

However, he is not part of the ODI squad due to the presence of other big stars. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are the designated openers for India in the 50-over format while Yashasvi Jaiswal is the backup opener, and so Abhishek despite his stellar performances in T20Is would miss out. He did well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy though with 467 runs in eight matches at a strike-rate of 130.45 and average of 58.38 and could make his way into the side if one of the openers get injured.

1. Varun Chakaravarthy

Varun Chakaravarthy has been outstanding since making his comeback in T20Is against Bangladesh. He did well in South Africa as well, and now in the five T20Is against England, he impressed again with 14 wickets in five matches. England batters just could not pick him throughout the series, but fortunately for them, he will not be available for the ODI series.

The likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar are part of the ODIs and so Chakaravarthy is yet to get his maiden ODI call-up. The man did brilliantly in the Vijay Hazare Trophy though and picked 18 wickets in six matches and is pushing hard for a spot in the ODI squad.
