Hardik Pandya's trade to Mumbai Indians (MI) has been the talk of town in recent times. There have been varied reactions on Pandya's move to MI from GT, and the all-rounder along with MI have faced quite a backlash since the move was announced officially.

Mumbai Indians (MI), the five-time IPL champions removed Rohit Sharma from captaincy, the man who led them in all those wins, only to accommodate Hardik Pandya. The move cost MI 15 crore on paper, but many were also surprised on how GT let go a marquee player and successful captain who lead them to a title win in their maiden season.

A report from Indian Express has brought in an interesting angle to this conversation, explaining how the deal was financially a gold mine for Gujarat Titans, a franchise that paid 5625 crore to be part of IPL before the 2022 season.

The Indian Express report emphasised on the fact that MI and GT have different cultures and goals. The CVC Capital is an investment firm with 40 managing partners and is a global entity which naturally is looking at IPL as a 'gold mine' for heavy profit. The Mumbai Indians (MI) is a franchise owned by a business family who along with profit have other varied reasons contributing in their decision making.

So, by selling Hardik, not only GT's purse went up by 15 crore but they also got a transfer fee from IPL, which according to speculations might have even touch 100 crore. This makes Hardik's deal a highly profitable one for GT owners which would have prompted them to take a tough decision of leaving Hardik Pandya.
