Contrary to expectations, West Indies have had a disastrous journey in the ongoing ICC World Cup qualifiers. After securing clinical wins against the United States and Nepal, the two-time World Cup champions incurred shocking losses to Zimbabwe and Netherlands. While Zimbabwe handed them a 35-run defeat, the Dutch pipped the Caribbean men in a thrilling encounter on Monday.

Having defeated two qualified teams in the group stage, Zimbabwe and Netherlands will carry four and two points to the super six round, while West Indies will start from scratch. So despite advancing to the Super Six round, the chances of West Indies qualifying for the main event in India looks bleak.

However, there is still a glimmer of hope for Shai Hope and co. as they can make it into the World Cup if a few things go their way, as mentioned below.

Win all super six games

First of all, West Indies must win their all super six fixtures, as they can't afford to lose a single match with their World Cup spot hanging by a thread. However, it won't be a cakewalk for them, as they will face Sri Lanka, who have been exceptional in the tournament. So, they must uplift their performance and punch above their weight to defeat the Asian giants in the Super six.

Hope other results to go their way

Zimbabwe, Netherlands and Sri Lanka could be the biggest threats for West Indies, as they will start the Super six with some crucial points in their kitty. So, West Indies will expect teams like Oman and Scotland to force an upset against these teams, so that not more than one side, other than themselves, finish on eight or more points.
