Molestation Allegations Against Prithvi Shaw False; Influencer Sapna Gill's Claims Baseless: Police

Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw has been cleared by the Mumbai police after social media influencer Sapna Gill filed an First Information Report (FIR) against the Mumbai-based player for molestation. 

The police in their investigation report, which has been submitted to the court, stated that allegations against Shaw is "false and unfounded". Gill had alleged that Shaw had molested her at a pub in Mumbai's Andheri area.

Gill's lawyer, Ali Kaashif Khan, has requested the court to allow his client to submit video footage from a witness' phone and also the CCTV video from outside the pub. 

The police told that it was Gill and her friend Shobit Thakur, who were seen drinking and dancing in the pub footage. 

Police in their report stated that accounts of eye-witnesses which said that no harm was done to Gill in the pub, or she was touched inappropriately.

On further examining the CCTV footage of the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, police found that Gill was chasing Shaw's car, and held a baseball bat in her hand, using which she broke the batter's car's windshield.

The court has adjourned that matter to June 28, and asked authorities to submit all related video footage. 


Prithvi Shaw-Sapna Gill Case History

Gill had filed a complaint before the magistrate court against Shaw and his friend Ashish Yadav for assaulting her with a bat in February, asking an FIR to be written in Andheri police station under IPC sections 354, 509 and 324. 

Before knocking on the court's door, Gill went to Airport police station and tried filing an FIR against Shaw.
