In a significant development, the iconic Wankhede stadium in Mumbai and Eden Gardens in Kolkata have been finalised as the venues for the semi-finals of the upcoming ICC World Cup. Earlier, it was believed that the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai would likely stage one semi-final, with the other one being hosted by the Wankhede Stadium. But as per a report published by Revsportz, the Eden Gardens will be the venue for one of the semi-final fixtures.

Notably, the marquee event is scheduled in October in India. But to the disappointment of fans across the globe, the BCCI is yet to release the final schedule with just over three months remaining for the tournament's beginning.

However, a source close to the development has revealed that the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata will stage one of the two semi-final matches, with the Wankhede Stadium hosting the other one. He also confirmed that the final will be played at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.

"Eden Gardens will host one of the semi-finals. It is confirmed. Wankhede Stadium will host the other semi-final. Ahmedabad will get the final. The schedule will be announced on June 27 at the special ICC event in Mumbai."

The ICC World Cup 2023 is set to take place from October 5 to November 19 on Indian soil. With ten top-class teams participating, we expect a cracking tournament going forward.
