Despite failing to give the scorers a hard time in the first innings, Babar Azam achieved a remarkable feat in his first outing of the Perth Test against Australia on Saturday (December 16) afternoon. The modern-day stalwart became only the fifth Pakistan batter in the history of international cricket to surpass 13,000 runs.

Babar, who was out caught for 21 after a peach of a delivery from Aussie allrounder Mitchell Marsh on Day 3 of the ongoing Test, finished the innings with a landmark to savour in his flourishing career at the highest level.

The 29-year-old had started the innings 14 shy of the 13,000 mark in the list of esteemed Pakistani batters to have bagged the coveted milestone and finished seven above following his dismissal at the Perth Stadium.

Babar achieves massive landmark in Perth

He now holds the fifth spot with a tremendous 13,007 runs from 301 innings for Pakistan across Tests, ODIs and T20Is, with an average nudging close to 50. The elegant right-hander boasts 31 centuries and 88 half-centuries at the top level.

Only greats Inzamam Ul Haq (20,451), Younis Khan (17,790), Mohammad Yousuf (17, 134) and Javed Miandad (16,213) are ahead of Babar in the elite list of Pakistani batters to have crossed the 13,000 mark at the international stage.

Babar is Pakistan's numero uno run-getter in T20Is with his 3,485 runs made across 98 innings at an average of 41.48 and strike-rate of 128.40 while also the country's 15th and 12th highest run-scorer in Tests and ODIs.

The solid batter has struck 3,793 runs over 50 Tests for Pakistan at an average of 47.41 and 5,729 runs in ODIs at 56.72 runs per innings while carrying a strike rate close to 90. Nine of Babar's centuries in Pakistan colours have arrived in Tests, and a whopping 19 in One-Day Internationals.
