Champions Trophy 2025 is less than two months away as Pakistan will host the prestigious fifty-over event from February 19 to March 9. Eight teams will take part in the upcoming tournament, with India playing all its games in Dubai as a part of a hybrid model deal with the PCB.
Talking about India and their Champions Trophy preparations, then it is worth noting that the Men in Blue played just three ODIs in 2024, that too against Sri Lanka, where they suffered a 0-2 defeat. Thus, several spots are up for grabs for the Champions Trophy, and this article will shed light on three RCB stars who can make it to the squad.
1. Virat Kohli
Virat needs no introduction when it comes to white-ball cricket. While the right-hand batter is struggling in Test cricket, Virat is the key figure for India in ODIs.
The 36-year-old will go down in history as one of the finest white-ball players. Kohli had a rare failure against Sri Lanka, but he would look to return with a bang in Champions Trophy 2025.
2. Rajat Patidar
Another RCB star who has shown promise in recent times in Rajat Patidar. The right-hand MP batter took his side to the SMAT final, where he was the key figure with the bat, amassing 428 runs in nine innings, which included five-fifty plus scores.
Further, Patidar is also shining in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and scored a fifty against Bihar. Thus, Rajat, who last played his solitary ODI in 2023, would look to have a place in the Champions Trophy 2025 squad.
3. Yash Dayal
Usually, there is room for a surprise pick in the Indian team for an ICC event. Thus, Yash Dayal should fancy his chances. Notably, Dayal had a brilliant turn-around in IPL 2024 when he took 15 wickets and emerged as RCB's best bowler.
He was rewarded by BCCI for his performance and earned his maiden India call-up for the Bangladesh series. Further, Dayal was also picked as a travelling reserve for the ongoing BGT series.
Thus, the left-arm seamer is knocking on the selectors' doors and can soon make a case for himself and earn a place in the Champions Trophy 2025 squad.
