The stage is set for the third WTC final and it is Australia up against South Africa this time around. The match will start from June 11 at the Lord's Cricket Ground and it promises to be a cracking encounter between two powerhouses of world cricket.

Australia though are the favourites to win the final with more experience and proven track record in big ICC finals. South Africa, on the other hand, have a chance to create history and along with stars, they have some underrated players who can create problems for Australia. In this article, we will look at some of those players.

Kyle Verreynne

The South African wicketkeeper batter has been in great form lately and would be a key player for South Africa against a potent Australian bowling attack. He has the shown technique to succeed in varied conditions and has hit three centuries in the last six Tests. All these hundreds have come in challenging conditions and it includes turning pitch in Mirpur to seaming wickets in South Africa.

Thus, Kyle Verreynne would be responsible for taking the lower order alongside him and could add crucial runs with tailenders if he bats at his best. Verreynne is also an experienced cricketer with 15 hundreds to his name. The batter is also playing county cricket currently in England to adjust to the conditions and has shown good form with an unbeaten 128 for Nottinghamshire against Essex.

Wiaan Mulder

The 27-year-old all-rounder from Gauteng has been a consistent performer in the South African domestic circuit for a long time now. His international career has not taken off as expected by many, but in recent times, he has found his groove at the highest level and could prove effective in English conditions in the WTC final.

Mulder recently scored a century in Test cricket against Bangladesh and has over 4000 runs with close to 200 wickets in first-class cricket. He can also bat anywhere in the order and was recently used at number 3 by South Africa against Pakistan. Thus, he provides flexibility with the bat and ball for the Proteas and has shown a good temperament to deliver under pressure.

Corbin Bosch

Corbin Bosch is another all-rounder who has taken rapid strides in world cricket in the last year or so. Just like Mulder, he can contribute both with the bat and ball but is more of a bowling all-rounder who can easily play as a third pacer. In the only Test match he has played so far, Bosch picked five wickets and scored 81 runs against Pakistan, showing his readiness for the purest form of the game.

Thus, his addition to the South African XI could prove decisive as he could contribute some crucial runs with the bat along with his bowling. He is also expected to get help from the Lord's pitch due to the extra byte he tends to generate off the pitch and could pose a threat to Australian batters who have not faced him in Test cricket before.
