The best XI from the Australia vs England ODI series


Australia completed a white wash on England in the three match ODI series at home. The 'Men in Yellow' won the last and final match at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground convincingly by 221 runs. 

There were quite a few brilliant performances in the series. As the series have now culminated let us have a look at the best XI from the series. 

Openers

Travis Head

Innings: 3 Runs: 240 AVG: 80.00 

Travid Head had a great series. He scored a half century and a century to give some solid starts to the team.

David Warner

Innings: 3 Runs: 208 AVG: 69.33

Along with Travis Head, David Warner was also on spot in the series. The opening pair played the biggest impact in Australia's win in the series. 

Middle Order

Steve Smith

Innings: 3 Runs: 195 AVG: 97.50

Steve Smith looked in his old form during the series. He scored a couple of half-centuries in the first two matches and the set the tone for his team going ahead in the series. 

Dawid Malan

Innings: 3 Runs: 136 AVG: 65.33

Dawid Malan played a brilliant knock in the first match and scored 134 runs. Although he was not able to continue his form but that innings in the first match had a lot of impact.

Sam Billings (wk)

Innings: 3 Runs: 95 AVG: 31.66

Given that he kept the wickets during the second match of the series and his performance with the bat was about par he earns a place in the team. 

All Rounder

Mitchell Marsh

Innings: 2 Runs: 80 AVG: 40.00

Overs: 7 Runs Conceded: 30 Wickets: 1

Mitchell Marsh scored a half-century in the series and also picked up a wicket. He earns a place as the all-rounder of the team. 

Spinners

Adil Rashid

Overs: 10 Runs Conceded: 57 Wickets: 3

Adil Rashid played only one match but had a great impact with 3 wickets. Hence, he is one of the two spinners in the team.

Adam Zampa

Overs: 25.3 Runs Conceded: 131 Wickets: 11

Adam Zampa was the highest wicket taker of the series. He is the first choice spinner of the team.

Pacers

David Willey 

Overs: 26 Runs Conceded: 158 Wickets: 4

David Willey  was one of the few positives from the English bowling in the series. 

Pat Cummins (c)

Overs: 16 Runs Conceded: 87 Wickets: 5

Pat Cummins was the best pacer for the hosts. He is also the captain of the Team of the Series. 

Mitchell Starc

Overs: 18 Runs Conceded: 92 Wickets: 5

Mitchell Starc had a great start to the series with a 3 wicket haul in the first match. In the next match also his form continued as he added 2 more wickets to his tally.
