Swashbuckling Australian batter David Warner smashed a scintillating ton, helping Australia post a mammoth 355 in the final ODI of the three-match series against England. Opening the batting, Warner hammered eight fours and two sixes for his gorgeous 102-ball 106.

Warner, who ended his century drought after 1043 days, surpassed former legendary opener Mark Waugh to record the second-most number of hundreds for Australia in ODIs.

Most ODI centuries for Australia

  • Ricky Ponting: 29 Hundreds in 364 Innings
  • David Warner: 19 Hundreds in 139 Innings
  • Mark Waugh: 18 Hundreds in 236 Innings
  • Aaron Finch: 17 Hundreds in 142 Innings
  • Adam Gilchrist: 16 Hundreds in 278 Innings

Warner also became the tenth Australian batter to breach the 6000-run mark in ODI cricket. Additionally, he stitched a massive 269-run stand for the opening wicket with Travis Head. It is the ninth-highest opening partnership ever and the highest stand at the MCG in ODIs.

Australia is the only side to have three entries in the top ten opening partnerships of all time (284, 269 Today and 258*), with Warner being a part of them.
