T20 World Cup 2022: India vs South Africa: Key Face-offs

India are on a great run after winning their first two matches in the T20 World Cup 2022. The biggest to their morale was their victorious start against their Pakistan. 

Moving onto the third encounter of India, they will be facing South Africa at Perth. Once again there will be some key player battles that will go a long way in determining the result of the match. 

1.Rohit Sharma vs Kagiso Rabada

Rohit Sharma was seen struggling for form at the beginning of the World Cup. But in the last match against Netherlands, he spent some time at the crease and got some runs under his belt to boost his confidence. In the match against South Africa he will be playing a key role in giving India a solid start to strengthen their position in the match early on. 

While Sharma will be trying to give India a good start, South Africa will be depending on Rabada to give them some early breakthroughs. The face-off between Rohit and Rabada will be a key one in this match.

Rabada has had the upper hand over Rohit till now in T20Is. A dot percentage of 55.26 against Rohit along with 2 dismissals shows that the batter will be in a disadvantageous position when the match takes place tomorrow. 

We might see Rohit trying to play out the initial spell of Rabada without taking much risk. 

David Miller vs Ravichandran Ashwin

David Miller has been in a great form this season. He hit his golden touch from the latest edition of the IPL. He successfully played the role of a finisher for Gujarat and then translated the same to international cricket. 

In tomorrow's match the Proteas will be looking at Miller to give them a strong finish. On the other hand, India will be entrusting Ashwin to dismiss 'Killer Miller' as Ashwin's record against left-handers is really impressive.  So, it will be an interesting clash to watch during the match.

In international T20s David Miller has dominated the contest against Ravichandran Ashwin. He has a strike rate of 200+ and has never been dismissed by the off-spinner. Also, the fact that the dot percentage is a mere 4.76 totally tilts the contest in favour of Miller. 

Suryakumar Yadav vs Kagiso Rabada

Suryakumar Yadav is the most explosive batter in the Indian batting order. He is the man adding dynamism to the line-up. While for South Africa, Rabada will be trusted with at least one over in the middle overs to try and stop Surya.
