Steve Smith Ruled Out, Maxwell & Marsh In? Here's Australia's Playing XI Vs Afghanistan

After securing five successive victories, Australia will cross swords against Afghanistan in the 39th match of the 2023 World Cup in Mumbai on Tuesday. Led by Pat Cummins, Australia have enjoyed stellar success in the tournament, occupying the third position with 10 points under their belt.

However, the Aussies have suffered a massive setback ahead of the Afghanistan clash, with Steve Smith experiencing vertigo symptoms. Although Cricket Australia is hopeful that Smith gets fit before the game, the team management might prefer to rest him, considering they have quality batters throughout the lineup.

Meanwhile, as per several trustworthy reports, Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell are all set to return to the playing XI, which is a massive boost for Australia. Notably, Marsh had flown back to his home, while Maxwell missed the England game due to a concussion injury.

So, as they are back, Australia can afford to rest Smith, slotting Marsh, Labuschagne, Josh Inglis, Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis in the middle order.

On the other hand, Travis Head and David Warner will open the batting, with Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood set to lead the bowling attack alongside skipper Pat Cummins.
