In the electrifying atmosphere of Match 37 of the World Cup 2023, where India secured a thumping victory against South Africa, it was former Indian cricketer and commentator Ravi Shastri's humorous take that captured the audience's attention.

Shastri's light-hearted commentary during IND vs SA clash leaves fans in stitches

Amidst the high-octane match, Shastri's light-hearted commentary on an on-field incident involving Indian batter Ishan Kishan became a talking point.

The incident unfolded as Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer were steadily building a partnership. Ishan Kishan walked onto the field with a message for the duo, a moment captured by the cameras.

Shastri, known for his unique style, humorously remarked, Agar ulta siddha bol diya kuch, aur baadme batsman bataya andar jaake ki arey mere ko Ishan ne bola ye karne ko, phir toh chaddi aur kiska niklega.”

This translates to, "If anything goes wrong and the batter says that Kishan asked him to do so, the he will be held accountable for delivering the wrong message." His witty commentary added a dash of humour to the tense game scenario.

Meanwhile, the match itself was a showcase of India's cricketing brilliance. Kohli, on his 35th birthday, not only played a stellar innings but also equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s record for ODI centuries.

After a robust start by Rohit Sharma, it was the partnership of Kohli and Iyer that anchored India's innings. Kohli's unbeaten 101 off 121 balls and Iyer's 77 off 87 deliveries propelled India to a formidable total of 326 runs.

India's bowlers complemented the batsmen's efforts admirably. Ravindra Jadeja emerged as the highest wicket-taker, while Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav took crucial wickets, and Mohammed Siraj contributed significantly.

South Africa, facing a steep target, succumbed at just 83 runs, marking a 243-run victory for India and maintaining their top position in the standings with an unbeaten streak of eight wins.
