Shreyas To Replace Vekatesh Iyer With Nitish Rana; KKR's Probable XI For IPL 2024 Match Vs MI

Kolkata Knight Riders will face their nemesis Mumbai Indians on Friday (May 3) in Match 51 of the ongoing edition at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. This will be the season's first meeting between the two sides, in which the Purple and Gold Brigade have a particularly tragic record in the past.
KKR, led by Shreyas Iyer, are placed second on the points table, with six victories and three defeats. They will go up against ninth-ranked Mumbai, who are on the verge of elimination having already suffered seven losses in 10 attempts.
There is little doubt that, barring Mitchell Starc's lacklustre form, KKR only have a few areas to worry about. Their top order is settled, with Phil Salt and Sunil Narine performing like they have been in their prime.
However, one person KKR have been dearly missing is Nitish Rana, who captained KKR in Shreyas Iyer's absence last season. Rana injured his hand earlier this season, which brought Angkrish Raghuvanshi into the limelight.
Now, Raghuvanshi is undroppable after being one of the emerging sensations this season, that would lead Venkatesh Iyer to be sidelined to make way for Nitish. In fact, that would also allow the rest of the team to play in their normal position.
The others, safe to say, should retain their places, which means Suyash Sharma will have to wait for his opportunity a little longer, while Harshit Rana, who has been handed a ban, will be replaced by Chetan Sakariya.
