Recently, Cricket Australia named a robust 15-man squad for the upcoming T20I World Cup in the Caribbean and the United States. Led by experienced all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, the team is a mix of experience and youth. 

While the Australian team management took the safe route and picked familiar faces, the absence of an x-factor like Jake Fraser-McGurk surprised fans and experts. 

Furthermore, ace batter Steve Smith also found himself out of World Cup contention as he had failed to impress the think tank with his batting during the away series against New Zealand.

Australia's Strongest XI For T20 World Cup 2024

The swashbuckling duo of David Warner and Travis Head will open the batting for Australia. While Warner brings experience, Head's fearless and aggressive intent could make him a massive threat to the opposition. 

Skipper Mitchell Marsh will likely bat at number three as he has been a prolific performer in T20Is at that position. Statistically, Marsh has amassed 1079 runs at an impressive average of 43.16 and a blistering strike rate of 143.87 at number three in T20Is. 

Experienced all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will be slotted at number four, with Australia likely to use him as their spin-hitter in the middle overs. Besides bringing dynamism to the squad, Maxwell could also be handy with his gentle off-spin. 

Keeper-batter Josh Inglis, who is a wonderful timer of the ball and has the range to score all around the park, will bat in the lower middle order. The explosive right-hander will ensure fitting finishes for his side alongside Tim David and Marcus Stoinis. 

The lethal trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will spearhead the Aussie pace attack, with Adam Zampa leading the spin bowling unit. 

Unless Australia play on a significantly spin-friendly surface, don't expect them to compromise their batting depth for a second spinner in Ashton Agar.
