The Champions T20 Cup 2024 saw another cracker of a game as Stallions-PAK trounced Lions-PAK by 12 runs at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Monday. It was a match laden with excellent batting, smart bowling, and exciting moments that had the fans on the edge of their seats.
Let’s take a closer look at the top 3 Pakistan Stars who shone today in Champions T20 Cup 2024.
3. Imam-ul-Haq
Imam-ul-Haq came out swinging for the Lions. Chasing a stiff target of 163, the captain took charge and played a blistering knock of 43 off just 28 balls where he smashed four boundaries and a six. Imam made his intentions clear early on as he took to the Stallions' bowlers in the powerplay.
He seemed unstoppable as he guided the chase, but his dismissal, trapped lbw by Usman Tariq, turned out to be a massive blow for the Lions. Imam looked frustrated walking back, knowing how crucial his wicket was. While the Lions fell short, Imam fought and led from the front, but he just needed someone else to step up alongside him.
2. Hussain Talat
Hussain Talat showed once again why he’s the man for tough situations. Coming in when the Stallions were under pressure, Talat played a composed innings of 51 not out off 36 balls, smashing five boundaries. He didn’t try anything flashy but was clinical in keeping the innings on track.
He rotated the strike smartly, picked the gaps, and kept his cool in the final overs. The 28-year-old batter’s partnership with the experienced Shoaib Malik was critical in helping the Stallions post a competitive total of 162/5. Talat has always been a reliable finisher, and this brilliant knock once again showed how good he is under pressure. He was the glue that held the Stallions’ innings together.
1. Shoaib Malik
At 42, Shoaib Malik proved he’s still got it. The veteran all-rounder put on a show with both bat and ball. Malik played a classy knock of 39 off 30 balls, smashing four crisp boundaries, including a trademark pull shot that reminded everyone of Rohit Sharma’s elegance.
Furthermore, Malik showed his brilliance with the ball too as he grabbed excellent figures of 2/23 in his 4 overs. His experience really came through as he kept things tight and sent key players like Hasan Nawaz and Awais Zafar packing. Malik’s all-round show was one of the main reasons the Stallions walked away with the win.
