Shakib Al Hasan Ruled Out Of World Cup; Here's Bangladesh's Playing XI Vs Australia

In a significant setback for Bangladesh, skipper Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2023 World Cup. Notably, Shakib sustained a finger injury during Bangladesh's previous league-stage encounter against Sri Lanka and as a result, he won't participate in the Tigers' final match against Australia on Saturday.

Notably, Bangladesh have roped in Anamul Haque Bijoy as Shakib's replacement. However, considering they have a star-studded top-order, Anamul won't likely play in this match.

Talking about their top order, Litton Das will open alongside Tanzid Hasan Tamim, with Najmul Hossain Shanto slotted at number three.

In Shakib's absence, the Tigers might bring Mahedi Hasan into the playing XI. If they do so, veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim could be promoted to number four, with Mahmudullah, Towhid Hridoy and Mehidy Hasan Miraz following him in the lineup.

They could also promote Mehidy Hasan Miraz to number four, considering he has batted up the order on several occasions. Meanwhile, besides offering them a quality spin option, Mahedi Hasan could score some handy runs coming down the order.

Regarding the pace department, Shoriful Islam and Taskin Ahmed will lead the attack along with promising seamer Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
