As India gear up for the second ODI against Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, August 4, all eyes will be on Rohit Sharma, who is on the brink of surpassing former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid's ODI run tally.

Rohit Sharma, who has amassed 10,767 runs in 263 ODIs, needs just two more runs to overtake Dravid's total of 10,768 runs, achieved in 340 matches, to become the fourth leading run-scorer for India in ODI cricket.

The legendary Sachin Tendulkar leads the chart with 18,426 runs, followed by Virat Kohli with 13,872 runs and Sourav Ganguly with 11,221 runs.

Rohit's consistency and prowess with the bat have positioned him within striking distance of this milestone, adding another feather to his already illustrious cap.

Rohit returned to play ODI against Sri Lanaka on August 2 after a break, making a strong statement in the first ODI against Sri Lanka at the same venue. He top-scored for India with a brilliant 58 off 47 balls, which included seven fours and three sixes.

Despite his effort, India fell short, losing the match and trailing the series 1-0. Rohit's innings not only showcased his form but also saw him break former England captain Eoin Morgan's record for the most sixes in international cricket as captain. Additionally, he joined Sachin Tendulkar as the second Indian to score 15,000 runs in international cricket as an opener.
