Pakistan cricket suffered another low in 2024 as their ODI team lost the first match against Zimbabwe by DLS method on Sunday. After thrashing Australia, Pakistan were expected to come out on top Vs the Zimbabwe side, but disaster struck as the hosts turned the tables and won the contest.
The Pakistan bowlers did a terrific job as they dismissed Zimbabwe for a paltry 205. Their bowlers were commendable and Pakistan had the match in their bag at the halfway mark. However, the Pakistan batters looked clueless against Zimbabwe as rain arrived and the DLS method declared the hosts as the winner o0f the contest.
Almost everyone, including captain Mohammad Rizwan failed to deliver as Pakistan got restricted to 60/6 before rain arrived. Now, with the second ODI on Tuesday, Pakistan need to make some bold calls if they are to win the match.
Pakistan to include X-Factor in playing XI
Every single Pakistan batter faltered and while the blame has to go to Rizwan for his painstaking knock of 19 off 43, he'll not be dropped since he was recently appointed the Pakistan captain. Instead, Haseebullah will face the wrath as he was dismissed without troubling the scorers.
The batter looked uncomfortable and was dismissed for a 2-ball duck. In his place, the visitors can try out Tayyab Tahir, who is an X-factor and could prove to be the difference maker with his all-round skills. Barring that, Pakistan should go in with the same squad which lost the first ODI.
The bowling will remain the same and unless any injury happens, Pakistan should go in with just one change.
